What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods, based on regular personal interaction, to treat emotional and psychological disorders, unwanted habits, and undesirable feelings, troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, as well as helping to improve relationships and social skills. The aim is to assist the client in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling or behaving, and improve overall wellbeing and mental health. Psychotherapy helps clients become more accepting of themselves and others and is useful in promoting personal development and unlocking inner potential.

I combine psychotherapy with various other therapies to achieve the best results for my clients in the shortest possible time.

A few issues (there are many) that psychotherapy addresses:

  • Counselling, Guidance and Goal Setting
  • Psychoneurosis
  • Communication and relationships (individual or group)
  • Process of Change
  • Assertiveness Training
  • Help, Compassion, and Understanding
  • Bereavement
  • Positive Attitudes
  • Positive Self Image
  • Self-Acceptance
  • Trauma, PTSD
  • Fears and Phobias
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Substance abuse
