Down the Rabbit Hole

Going down the rabbit hole may actually turn on the light to some questions you’ve been searching for. I don’t know about you, but I have always found the mind to be a fascinating topic. To be more specific, the workings of the mind. I guess that’s what drew me to studying Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Meridian Psychotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and several other therapies. Being highly intuitive has also assisted me in my pursuit of understanding the why’s. Why did someone do that? Why did someone say that? Heck, I even ask myself those questions countless times. Why on earth did I do or say this or that? When I help people with certain issues, it always amazes me what comes out. It’s like Alice going down the rabbit hole, except, when we come out, we come out with all kinds of treasures, the main treasure being a clearer understanding of why we do what we do, think what we think, behave as we do or even go through what we do. When we discover what sticky thought patterns keep us trapped in its spider web or what belief systems keep us spinning around and around on the same roller coaster ride, with all its ups and down – it’s like a light turns on.
Eureka! And then change follows. It’s inevitable. Life becomes so much brighter; patterns dissolve away, and certain challenges many a time disappear almost immediately.

As humans, we have such an exquisite mind, but it can also be our downfall, especially when our thoughts and emotions amalgamate. Then it’s down, down, down the rabbit hole we go. Okay, okay, I’ll try to be less dramatic.  (No promises). But it’s just so amazing to KNOW that when we KNOW, we really KNOW. In other words, when we finally know what drives us to say the things we say and do the things we do, it’s easier to break loose from those patterns and chains. It’s like they say, it’s easier to fight the enemy you can see. And freedom has never tasted sweeter.

My advice to you is, get to know yourself, ask questions, and be relentless in your pursuit of answers. You don’t have to accept vicious cycles in your life, such as perhaps always being attracted to the same type of partner over and over even though you know they’re no good for you.

Also know that you don’t have to figure it out all on your own either. Going down a rabbit hole alone, although brave, can be endless. Yes, we all have our intuitions that can guide us, but our intuition sometimes lies dormant. We need to awaken it. Intuition is a tricky and extremely delicate thread and will be a topic for my next article. But for now, search for answers. Change your faulty thought patterns and belief systems. Be brave, reach out, and ask for help. Don’t walk in the dark. Turn on the light. The power to that switch lies in you.
